When will it stop?

Tis the season to decorate our abodes with witches and goblins and spooky creatures. . .Tis the season for vandalism. . .My neighbor spent a couple of hours decorating her front porch with scarecrows, beautiful mums, and of course, pumpkins.
Early the next morning, I found her pumpkins smashed and scattered all over the street and across the street.
Is anything sacred anymore? The children do not have anything better to do than to walk the streets and find other peoples personal property and destroy it??

I am so happy to see a website devoted exclusively to the Mt. Greenwood area. I love this neighborhood so much as there is access to transportation, cultural arts (Beverly Arts Center), excellent schools and churches of all denominations. It's a small town in a big city. When I was younger I was quite jealous of my friends who had moved to the suburbs and had large houses with big kitchens, family rooms, etc. The older I got the more I appreciated the intimate sense of community that we enjoy here. I would not want to live anywhere else.

CFD Firefighter William Grant
Submitted by thomas.j.cook on Thu, 03/29/2007 - 4:54pm.As a fellow Chicago Firefighter, I was appauled at the medias coverage of
Firefighter William Grant's funeral. No one covered it live and the web
casts that were availale kept freezing and going out. I unfortunately had
to work as did hundreds of other Chicago firefighters. I was glued to the
television at 10:30 and only bits and pieces were aired. Did anyone besides
this mans family and firefighters across the country care? I gues hard
work, dedication and duty are not news worthy.
Yes, it was beautiful. Yes, it was large and impresive. Yes, is was
