i was on the eastbound train that got stopped, and i have to say metra handled things very poorly. the conductor came over the loudspeaker and explained the situation, informing us that it could be between a 30 minute and 2 hour wait. about half an hour later he came back on the loudspeaker to inform us that they were returning the train to the previous stations they had just picked us up from, so we could get off the train or go back with the train. if we elected to go back to the station we had originally gotten on the train from, we could get a refund. he also informed us that buses were being arranged to take people where they needed to go, whether downtown or to another station.

A car which a witness said was driving on the railroad tracks was struck by a Metra train early Tuesday evening in west suburban Downers Grove, leaving the driver hospitalized.

Police and firefighters remain on the scene of a car-train accident as of 6:50 p.m., according to Downers Grove Deputy Police Chief Jim Black.

Metra's Burlington Northern Sante Fe train No. 1243 was westbound from Chicago to Aurora when it was involved in the grade-crossing accident about 4:30 p.m., according to Metra spokesman Patrick Waldron .

Black said the accident occurred near the intersection of the tracks and Maple Avenue, but was actually about 250 feet east. "Witnesses saw the vehicle driving eastbound on the railroad tracks," when it was struck by a westbound train, he said.

Id like to add , My siblings and I also used to hang out in the cemetary and also with some kids from the neighborhood and they were Cops kids. Not saying that they are the only ones hanging there but they are definiatly showing up and till this day I know of a big majority hanging in the cemetary that are cops kids. They should put guard dogs in the cemetary. Also there have been alot of fights lately in the Mt Greenwood area and it is getting ridiculous.
