Condition of Mt Greenwood
Categorized under:
Is anyone else completely disgusted with the overll condition of Mt Greenwood. 111th street looks like the ghetto. When is the Walgreens property going to be started. Ginger better het her you know what in gear. She does absolutely nothing for us. I work all over the city and our parks are a joke. Please give me your thoughts. And whats going on with the Brew Pub on Western? Come on people. Lets get these politicians to finally do something.

I totally agree with you. I
I totally agree with you. I did some searching about the 111th and Kedzie development. They are offering rental commercials spots beginning June 2008. I don't see how that would be possible. Personally, I do not think we need a Starbucks, I think we need more public parking in the area so people do not have to park on Kedzie anymore. We need more small businesses to open in the area. there are too many vacant store fronts. and while I am on the subject, eliminate the bus routes on the corners. I am also worried about the rise in crime in this area. I don't think we need any more bars, or pubs either.
Why would any small
Why would any small businesses come here? 111th and Kedzie is a dump, the existing store fronts available are in such bad condition(interior and exterior) and many ( not all )`current businesses don't meet our needs as a community. We need major chains to jump start our business area. Dunkin' Donuts would be nice if not Starbucks. Most of us shop at Target etc....and dine in the suburbs. We don't have the foot traffic to draw anyone. Mixed use development res/business would help. Parking for future businesses but current......for what? It doesn't matter as no one will do anything about this anyway. 10 years from now it will look the same. Shop elsewhere.
You do make good sense!! I
You do make good sense!! I guess I am wishful thinking that maybe Mt. greenwood would not lose anymore appeal than it already has. Personally, I would love a Walmart so I wouldn't have to leave the area!! I can not stand going to the Walmart in Evergreen Park, it sucks!!
