The longstanding famous southside High School football rivalry between Marist High School (4200 W. 115th Street and Brother Rice High School (99th and Pulaski) will return to Brother Rice for the first time since 2002. The football rivalry is in it's second year of return as the Crusaders won last year's contest at Marist. The rivalry withstood a three-year hiatus from 2003-2005 when the teams were not allowed to schedule any non-conference opponents on the schedule. The Marist RedHawks play in the East Suburban league, while Brother Rice is situated in the famous Catholic League Blue. | ||

Mount Greenwood will celebrate its 100 year anniversary of being annexed to the city of Chicago with a gathering of businesses, crafters, and flea markets on 111th Street from Sacramento to Central Park. There is still room for more participants. Each exhibitor will be responsible for their own set up and clean up. For more information call Darlene at 773-238-6103 from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm. Mon.-Sat. Each participant will be notified two weeks ahead of time with their exact location. The deadline for all completed applications is August 15. | ||

The Saint Xavier University football team will take the field at home, for the first time under permanent lights on Saturday September, 15 at Bruce R. Deaton Memorial Field. The Cougars, who are ranked fifth in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), will take on former conference rival Olivet Nazarene University with the kickoff scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Start: 8:00 pm
