A main gallery exhibit showcasing original works contributed to the 37th annual Beverly Arts Center auction is the centerpiece of the Artists' Preview Party.

Among the artists who have contributed works to the BAC Auction are award-winning children's book illustrator John Sandford of Grand Haven, Mich., noted photographer Paul Kozal of Sea Ranch, Calif., internationally recognized photographer Mati Maldre of Chicago, and landscape artist Brian Ritchard of Chicago.

“Incognito,” Michael Fosberg’s one-man play about race, roots and self-discovery, is the moving story of discovering - after having been raised as white - that his birth father is black, not white as he had believed.

Setting out to find his father, Fosberg uncovered his own rich cultural roots as well as revelations about race and acceptance, family and history.

It is the first of two hands-on
workshops held at the park fieldhouse that are designed to get people thinking about and creating designs for the mosaic totems that will installed in the new playlot.

Everyone can come out and join the fun - whether you are 3 or 103 you can be a part of the process.

The concert begins at 7 p.m. Saturday and will be preceded by a reception at 6 p.m. Join Rick Kogan of WGN Radio and the Chicago Tribune for the meet-and-greet pre-concert party.

The concert itself features a lineup of WMC favorites: Irish fiddle wizard and Chicago native Liz Carroll, Chicago folk musician Ed Holstein, jazz trio Larry Gray and Zvonimir Tot, vocalist Jamie O'Reilly, fiddler Anne Harris, Chicago Irish musicians Dyed in the Wool, singer-songwriter Ross Crean and Chicago folk singer Anna Stange.

One of Chicago’s most revered writers, Stuart Dybek, will read at Saint Xavier University in the Butler Reception Room.

The author of three books of fiction and two of poetry, Dybek will deliver Saint Xavier’s annual Evangeline Bollinger Lecture, which is free and open to the public. Dybek is the author of I Sailed with Magellan, The Coast of Chicago, and Childhood and Other Neighborhoods. The Coast of Chicago was the 2004 “One Book, One Chicago” selection.

Mount Greenwood residents are invited to learn about a tax-free way to save for college using the Bright Start College Savings Program, the state's 529 savings plan for college.

The money invested is deductible from state taxes. Additionally, qualified withdrawals for college expenses are federal and state tax free.
