Is it true that the 22nd District will have half a dozen fewer sergeants supervising the neighborhoods this holiday season?
A neighbor tipped us off the other day that the Chicago Police Department may be transferring six sergeants from the 22nd District to two other districts.
Does anyone have any pictures of Red's. I have been looking all over for justa photo and no one has one. I cannot count the number of times we ate ther but never thought of taking a picture of the sign or the outside. I would so appreciate if someone could post one. Thanks
There it was, right in front of me on the sidewalk, stopped just short of a nearby lawn.
It was my first sighting of a cicada, the red-eyed little critters that are expected to invade the Midwest in the next few weeks in their regular 17-year cycle of emerging from the ground, mating and dying.
In the wake of its closing after 60 years, this neighborhood icon is gone forever but leaves quite a legacy. While it was a unique piece of Morgan Park history for 39 years, there are other reminders of my own childhood, signatures of Mount Greenwood, Beverly and Morgan Park. I drive past Kennedy Park and remember my first tee ball game. I remember getting toys from the vending machine at Reds (now a parking lot, I think). And of course I remember sitting at the counter at the old Snackville Junction on Western.
