Jose (Eduardo Verastegui), once poised to become a major soccer star, is working as a chef when a waitress (Tammy Blanchard) is fired for showing up late. Jose walks off the job to catch up with the woman, and the two bond during a meandering jaunt around New York City during which he tells the tragic story about what derailed his once promising athletic career.
