Justice in Rusch case?
More than a year and a half after Beverly teenager Ryan Rusch was nearly beaten to death by three attackers in Beverly Park, two of the attackers have begun their sentences (the third, a Corliss High School student, has been on the run for more than a year).
In March, attacker Micah Eatman was found guilty of robbery and aggravated battery and sentenced to seven years in prison.
Walter Scales, the second attacker, was already serving a three-year sentence for a separate incident Wednesday when his new sentence in the Rusch beating began. He could be held in juvenile detention until he is 21.
Although the three originally were charged with attempted murder, those charges were downgraded, and none was charged with a hate crime (the attackers, all black, told police they had targeted Rusch because he was a "goofy white kid").
Do you think justice has been served in the case?
