This got me thinking.

I stumbled upon this Web log post today and figured there are pelnty of other people around who have old photos of the neighborhood.

If you've got some lying around, let us know. Or send them to us. Or log on and post them yourself.

The former Mount Greenwood Branch of the Chicago Public Library wasn't the sexiest of buildings, but the photo of it does give us a look into the neighborhood's history.

As Chicago Police Superintendent Jody Weis takes heat for the city's rising crime rate, Beverly and Morgan Park neighbors are reeling from two separate shootings just four days - and two miles - apart that killed two and left two more injured.

In both shootings the victims were shot several times, and police have said that they don't suspect robbery as a motive. The circumstances are similar, the timing is remarkable, and the proximity of the shootings is worth noting. Do you think the shootings were related to gang activity?
