SXU Football home opener
Categorized under:
The Saint Xavier University football team will take the field at home, for the first time under permanent lights on Saturday September, 15 at Bruce R. Deaton Memorial Field. The Cougars, who are ranked fifth in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), will take on former conference rival Olivet Nazarene University with the kickoff scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
The Cougars return a number of key players from last year's team that saw them make an unprecedented run at the NAIA semifinals, defeating powerhouse Georgetown Ky. and four time defending champions Carroll, Mt. on the road to the final four. Some of these key players include quarterback Billy Yeo, running back Jason Banning, and linebacker Sean Kenney.
SXU is now playing in the Mid-States Football Association (MSFA) Mideast League. This is their first season in that league, as they used to play in the MSFA Midwest League.
If you cannot make it our to the stadium for the opener against Olivet, the game will be broadcast on the radio via WXAV 88.3 FM Chicago. It can also be heard online at wvax.com.
